ARLANXEO is one of the biggest producers of nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) worldwide. As a French entity, ARLANXEO manufactures its high-grade emulsion Rubber at the world’s largest NBR production facility located in La Wantzenau,  a small suburb of the French city of Strasbourg.The production facility, which opened in 1962, originally belonged to the Canadian company Polysar. Following the acquisition by the Bayer group in 1990, the production capacity was increased by 50 % in 2002 by relocating the production of the NBR Perbunan®  from Leverkusen to La Wantzenau. After LANXESS was founded in 2004, the plant was expanded to create the largest NBR plant worldwide. In 2012, together with the Taiwanese company TSRC, LANXESS opened a joint facility in Nantong, China with an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons.The site is now operated by ARLANXEO, following its establishment as a joint venture between LANXESS and Saudi Aramco in 2016.ARLANXEO emulsion Rubber now has a total annual capacity of more than 100,000 metric tons of high-performance rubber.
